While this is a very subjective description, it conjures a mental image that is parellel to the Hammond Growl. Think of a classical singer singing, let's say, "Amazing Grace". Its very graceful and carries a tonal sound of a pearl, smooth on all sides. Now think of Aretha Franklin singin "Amazing Grace", even without ad-lib and a lot of riffs, her voice has a timbre about it that is more piercing, diamond-like. It has sharp edges that reflect very distinct and precise sounds. It is that quality difference that is the Hammond Growl. Its like cats MEOW verses a cats clawing RWNW!!!
