Very old keyboard player! Still play in a couple of semi-pro rock/funk/blues bands in the UK. First love is jazz. My great hero is pianist Bill Evans. After that it's Hammond heros all the way. Jimmy smith of course. Jimmy ?McGriff in his youth was a master at getting the most out of Hammond and Leslie. Currently I like Dr Lonnie Smith, Joey D, Larry Goldings and Chris Foreman. I play a Hammond SK2 through a Neo Ventilator (plus other keyboards ). I believe that the live sound is indistinguishable for 99% of the audience from a classic Hammond. I'd love a B3 and Leslie 122 but I can't afford one, haven't got a big enough house to put it in and I haven't got any means of carrying it to a gig - which is my main priority!
