The front strip is the metal rail on the front of each manual. (It's painted black and the one on the upper manual has the HammondLogo on it.) In addition to looking nice, it, along with the UpstopFelts, is what limits the upwards travel of the keys.
Replacement front strips are available from Trek.
Also, and gnarly front strip can be made pristine again via sand-blasting and powder-coating.
