Older Hammonds, including some B/C-2's and all previous models have "ratchet drawbars". These are so named because the physical detents between drawbar settings are more pronounced (or "clicky") than on later "smooth drawbar" models. More importantly "ratchet drawbars" suffer from designed-in "drawbarus interruptus": if you adjust a drawbar while playing a note, the sound drops out completely between settings.
To overcome this problem, many people salvage smooth-style drawbars from junked later-model organs and put them into older organs.
Recently, a retrofit kit has been announced. Retail price is reported to be around $300. ?DaveFifield has written this web page complete with detailed pictures about converting his BV to smooth drawbars with this kit.
